Wilding Engineering is a professional civil engineering, surveying, and consulting firm in Bluffdale, Utah with a presence in all Intermountain states and the Pacific Northwest.  Founded in 1992, we have expertise in Civil, Geotechnical, and Environmental engineering, Land Surveying, Construction Materials Testing and Civil Inspection.  We have professional engineers licensed in nine states* and land surveyors licensed in five states†, and maintain an AASHTO Re:source and CCRL accredited materials laboratory.

Gregory D. Wilding, PLS
Gregory D. Wilding, PLSPresident
Greg is a Professional Land Surveyor, with 33 years of experience working in the civil engineering and land surveying industry. He has provided solutions for commercial and residential land development projects throughout this career. He often represents land development clientele at City Council and Planning commission meetings for project presentations and conflict resolution. His experience includes many utility corridor surveys, including a 200 mile right-of-way survey through the State of Utah, and hundreds of property surveys for development projects. He and his team are proficient at preparing boundary and topography surveys, subdivision plats, easement and right-of-way surveys and construction staking. They utilize the latest in survey equipment, including drones, terrestrial LiDar and GPS technology. Greg has also worked as an expert witness on difficult property boundary disputes. As the the president of Wilding Engineering, he prepares and manages contracts, schedules, client relations and project performance. He is also a Notary Public.

Mike Carlton, PE
Mike Carlton, PEVice President, Engineering
Mike Carlton is a seasoned Professional Engineer with 27 years of experience in the civil engineering industry. Throughout his career, he has designed a wide range of commercial and residential land development projects, from simple home grading plans to large-scale resort communities featuring thousands of homes and resort amenities. Mike and his team specialize in concept layouts, site and grading plans, parking lot designs, roadway and utility designs, stormwater analysis, geotechnical reports, retaining wall designs, and septic system designs. They also provide client support in securing project approvals. Additionally, Mike oversees Wilding Engineering’s Geotechnical Group and Civil Inspection Departments, which serve both residential and industrial projects. His team utilizes the latest in design equipment and software to deliver high-quality results.

Russell E. Wilding
Russell E. WildingVice President, Finance
Russell has overseen the business functions at Wilding Engineering since 2009, including accounting, human resources, fleet management, and help with department planning. He has worked in each department over the years, giving him a basic understanding of the full range of work the company performs.
Through the years, this work has included materials testing and civil inspection, earning certifications from Troxler, ACI, NICET, FHWA, WAQTC, and as a Radiation Safety Officer; geotechnical sampling and report preparation assistance, and foundation and retaining wall observation; percolation testing and septic system design assistance, earning an Onsite Wastewater Level 1 certification; phase one environmental report preparation; and land surveying for boundaries, topography and construction staking.

As the company’s financial manager, he helps with marketing, department profit analyses, taxes, and legal issues. Russell maintains the company’s business insurance and company contracts. He also oversees the company employee benefits, company policies and participates in all hiring. He helps with decision-making for each department to help them work together for the benefit of the company as a whole.
